Daily Heel Pain that won’t go away?

Rochester Podiatry Can Help!

Welcome to RochesterShockwave.com

This site was created to introduce the Rochester area to a revolutionary new, non-surgical, therapy for Plantar Fasciitis, commonly known as heel spurs. Plantar Fasciitis/Plantar Fasciosis is a painful and potentially debilitating condition that often affects those who are overweight, stand for long periods while working, athletes and many others.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved non-invasive, non-surgical treatment option for intense, persistent heel pain associated with Achilles tendonitis and chronic plantar fasciitis. Plantar Fasciitis is a common clinical condition caused by overuse or injury of the plantar fascia. With time the plantar fasciitis becomes a plantar fasciosis and Achilles tendonitis becomes Achilles Tendinosis. Plantar fasciosis/Achilles Tendinosis is a chronic scar tissue with little to no vascularity (blood supply), which causes pain. During the treatment, the shockwave is delivered to the specific body part. The shockwave stimulates or reactivates the healing processes though microdistruptions of vascular or minimally vascular tissues to encourage revascularization, release of local growth factors, and the recruitment of appropriate stem cells conducive to more normal tissue healing. Compared to invasive or endoscopic surgery, ESWT has fewer side effects and much shorter recovery time with patients returning to light activities within a day and normal activities at approximately four weeks. Surgical patients typically require casting and may be off work for approximately six to eight weeks.

If you are experiencing pain in your feet, particularly in the morning, you may have Plantar Fasciitis, Plantar Fasciosis, Achilles Tendinitis or Achilles Tendinosis

Plantar Fasciitis/ Plantar Fasciosis is treatable and treatments include rest, physical therapy, heel cushions, custom orthotics, night splints, non-steroid medications and other podiatry therapies. Approximately 10% of patients experiencing this condition have had to resort to surgical intervention. Now Rochester Shockwave offers Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy or ESWT as an alternative to surgery. ESWT is an out-patient treatment administered in our offices by trained Podiatrists. Recovery time is very short, 24-48 hours compared to 6-8 weeks for surgery. In addition after ESWT you can then resume ordinary activities.
